There are many reasons that cause traffic accidents and high deaths rates. There is careless driving, speeding, bad driving, the use of mobile phones whilst driving and the lack of seatbelts. These are the main reasons for serious injuries and deaths on Omani roads.
Everyday of the week we hear of a traffic accident happen in our village or in the neighboring villages. The sound of an ambulance comes for us as something normal, regardless of the seriousness of the traffic accident because we hear its voice everyday.

Captain Rashid Suleiman Al-Abri, who is the Head of the Press Department of Public Relations in the Royal Oman Police said, road accidents in Oman happen at an alarming rate. Also, it comes one of the biggest problem that upset Omani families. Royal Oman Police are looking to find solutions to this problem and they are trying to reduce the numbers of accidents, which cause death or injuries.
However, the numbers of people in Oman who buy cars is increasing day after day. That one of the main reasons the numbers of accidents in Oman are increasing. Slogan is “Lets work together to reduce traffic accidents”.
Royal Oman Police build a Traffic Safety Institute and its goals are to reduce the traffic accidents in Oman . Also, it is just an example of interagency cooperation for the social and health benefit of the nation to ensure such ongoing cooperation. If the Traffic Safety Institute achieves the goal of reducing the number of victims on the roads, it will be among the great gifts awarded to the Omani people on the National occasions.
This Institute is a specialized for training traffic officers, road users, driving instructors and examiners. Special programs courses and workshop will be held for these categories respectively. In addition, drivers will attend courses in the negotiation of accidents and the technical and administrative aspects of such negotiation.
